The Engine Guard is an overheating alarm system designed to alert the driver when the engine temperature exceeds a predetermined level, protecting against potential engine damage.
The alarm monitors the engine’s cylinder head temperature and/or coolant temperature. When the temperature reaches a preset threshold, it activates an audible and visual warning.
Yes. The Engine Guard has a large, easy to read digital display (green LED). It will show the actual temperature from cold (ambient) temperature before starting the vehicle, and shows real time changes in degrees up to a maximum of 130 degrees celsius.
Yes. The alarm trigger point is adjustable. The system has a memory that records the highest temperature recorded. We suggest that the alarm should be set 5 degrees ABOVE the normal highest recorded temperature after driving the vehicle for a week or so to allow the system to store the temperature under most typical driving conditions.

The sensor bolts on just like a washer under the head of a bolt- usually on the inlet side or rear of the head. Otherwise, if a location on the exhaust side of the head is available, it must be at least 100mm from an exhaust port or manifold runner.
No. The Engine Guard is a ‘stand alone’ complete temperature monitoring system. Other than a 12v or 24v supply, it does not connect to any other factory systems or components.
Yes. The Engine Guard is far better than the factory temperature monitoring for the following reasons:
The Engine Guard has a user adjustable audible alarm so if the engine temperature rises a few degrees above the normal highest recorded temperature, it will trigger the alarm. Most factory temperature gauges will only start to respond after a large increase in temperature- and this is usually after damage is done.
Even then, if you are not watching the factory temp gauge, you won’t know it’s happening!
The Engine Guard temperature sensor bolts directly to the metal of the cylinder head, whereas factory sensors usually monitor the temperature of the coolant only. The big weakness is that if you have lost your coolant, the factory gauge will not respond! The Engine Guard will still respond, and very quickly.
The Engine Guard shows temperature in degrees celsius and is designed to be very accurate and responsive. By contrast, factory temperature gauges ARE DESIGNED TO BE UNRESPONSIVE! Most have a ‘dead spot’ in the middle of the range where coolant temperature can vary by many degrees celsius and the needle will not move.

Yes. The EG01-2 dual bolt-on temperature sensor model is designed to monitor both engine temperature AND transmission temperature. The sensor normally bolts to a pan (sump..) bolt on the transmission.
The EG01-3 model offers a low oil pressure alarm on Input 2. This operates by reading the line voltage on the factory low oil pressure warning light circuit.
The cables for the temperature sensor are 5m long, but can be safely extended to 15m if required. We suggest that this is achieved by using additional matching cable and solder/heatshrink of joins.
The Display is 80mm (long) x 40mm (high). It is approx. 22mm thick.
The Display uses a high strength double sided adhesive tape. The surface must be clean and free from oil, silicone, Armor-All, etc.
Yes. The output to the buzzer can easily be used to trigger a relay to shut-down an engine or trigger other devices.
